Two technology majors in one degree pathway

Students apply through the Department of Global Convergence Studies and later select one of the following Science & Technology majors. Asia Pathway can help you compare the two directions and confirm the latest study plan before you apply.

AI & Computer Engineering

Build an academic direction around artificial intelligence and computer engineering. This option may suit students interested in computing, intelligent technologies, digital systems and the development of technology-based solutions.

The pathway offers a strong starting point for internationally minded students who want to understand how computing and AI are influencing organisations and industries. Asia Pathway can help applicants confirm the latest curriculum and English Track arrangements before enrolment.

Eco-Friendly Energy Studies

Explore the changing relationship between energy, technology and environmental responsibility. This option may appeal to students interested in cleaner energy, sustainable development and the technologies supporting future energy systems.

Students can build an internationally relevant academic profile while studying in South Korea, a country known for advanced technology and industrial development. Asia Pathway can help applicants confirm how the current study plan is structured.

Choose your major from the second year

FEU admits students through the Department of Global Convergence Studies rather than directly into one of the two Science & Technology majors. Students then select AI & Computer Engineering or Eco-Friendly Energy Studies from the second year.

This structure is well suited to students who are interested in technology but want time to compare digital and sustainability-focused directions before choosing their specialisation.

Study through FEU’s English Track

AI & Computer Engineering and Eco-Friendly Energy Studies are listed by Far East University as available through both Korean and English tracks. International applicants selecting the English Track must meet FEU’s English-language requirement.

Accepted benchmarks include TOEFL iBT 59, TOEFL CBT 170, TOEFL PBT 497, IELTS 5.5 or New TEPS 202. An equivalent score from a nationally accredited English proficiency test may also be considered. Applicants recommended by an overseas school, university or institution with an FEU cooperation agreement may be considered for an exemption following university review.

Some university-wide activities, administrative processes or everyday communication may involve Korean. Asia Pathway will help each applicant confirm the current teaching arrangements and prepare for study and life in Korea.

Admission requirements

  • Applicants and both parents must be foreign nationals.
  • Dual citizens are not eligible under this international admission category.
  • Applicants must have completed the equivalent of Korean primary and secondary education and hold, or expect to obtain, an eligible high-school graduation qualification.
  • English Track applicants must provide an accepted English-language score unless FEU approves an exemption under its institutional-partner provisions.
  • Academic records, graduation documents, nationality evidence, family-relation documents and other required materials are reviewed by Far East University.

Asia Pathway can review your education and language background, identify missing documents and guide you through the university application and student-visa process.

Tuition and scholarships

Tuition per semester: approximately USD 2,796.

The final tuition amount is confirmed by Far East University before enrolment. Students should also budget for the admission fee, accommodation, insurance, textbooks or specialist materials, visa-related expenses and everyday living costs.

Scholarship details for new and transfer students are announced separately by FEU. Asia Pathway can check the current scholarship conditions and help you understand the estimated tuition payable for your intake.

About the Institution

Far East University

Far East University

Gamgok-myeon, Eumseong (Chungcheongbuk-do)

A practical university known for aviation and applied fields. Founded in 1998, Far East University (Geukdong Daehakgyo) is a private university in Gamgok-myeon, Eumseong County, in North Chungcheong Province (Chungcheongbuk-do). Guided by the motto “Sincerity, Creativity, Cooperation,” it focuses on career-oriented education across aviation, hotel and tourism, health sciences, media arts, social sciences, AI and security, with roughly a quarter of its courses taught in English.

A rural campus within reach of Seoul. The campus sits in the countryside of Eumseong County near the Gyeonggi border, beside Gamgok–Janghowon and about an hour from the Seoul area by road, by campus shuttle bus, or by KTX-Eum to Gamgok Janghowon Station. It features modern laboratories and aviation-training facilities — including an Aircraft Exhibition Hall and the Smart K-Tech Center — along with an indoor gymnasium and an on-campus bus terminal.

Strong in aviation and applied technology. Far East University is recognised for aviation, holding approval from Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport as a specialised aircraft-maintenance training institution, and offering programmes spanning flight operation, aviation safety, urban air mobility, hotel management, occupational therapy, police administration, AI computer engineering and cyber-security.

Korean and English language study at the ILEC. International students typically begin at the International Language Education Center (ILEC), which runs a Korean-language course (D-4-1, using Sejong Korean) and an English course (D-4-7, using Cambridge IELTS) across four ten-week terms a year. Tuition is about KRW 4,400,000 per year, and the centre supports students through admission, the Certificate of Admission and the visa process.

On-campus accommodation. The university provides dormitories — Kook-Je Haksa for women and Sung-Ji Haksa for men — in four-person rooms with shared kitchen, laundry, lounge and study spaces, central air-conditioning and Wi-Fi. Fees are set per six-month period and can vary by intake.

Why choose Far East University with Asia Pathway?
