Build balanced Korean communication skills

The program integrates the skills students need for practical communication and continued academic progress. Classroom study covers listening, speaking, reading and writing through conversation-focused lessons, alongside dedicated grammar instruction.

Students are placed and supported according to their ability, and textbook selection is confirmed through the university’s evaluation process. This gives learners a structured route from their current level toward stronger everyday and academic Korean.

Choose the appropriate study schedule

FEU offers two academic timetable structures. Depending on the class and semester, students complete either 160 hours or 200 hours over ten weeks. This represents 16 or 20 hours of Korean-language study each week.

The 160-hour timetable normally distributes language classes across five study days. The 200-hour timetable normally provides classes across four study days with one varying day off. Exact class times and weekly arrangements are confirmed by the language centre.

How progress is assessed

Students are assessed through attendance, daily assignments and class participation, mid-term assessment and final assessment. The current evaluation structure combines these elements into a 100-point semester result.

To advance to the next level, students normally need an overall result of at least 70% and attendance above 70%. Students who do not meet both progression standards may remain at their current level.

Experience Korean culture beyond the classroom

Language develops faster when students can use it in real situations. FEU complements classroom learning with cultural, campus and student activities designed to create natural interaction with Korean people and university life.

Korean cultural experiences

A cultural experience is organised once per semester. Activities can include exploring Korean cultural-heritage sites and experiencing traditional or holiday culture.

Campus festivals

International students can participate in the Yeongsan Festival and Yeongsan Sports Festival. Opportunities may include joining an international-student team and operating a booth featuring traditional food.

Hey, Buddy! cultural exchange

The buddy program matches international students one-to-one with Korean students, creating opportunities for cultural exchange and more natural Korean communication outside formal lessons.

Korean speech contest

The annual Korean speech contest gives students the opportunity to present in Korean, practise public speaking and demonstrate their language development through a theme that changes each time.

Department previews and clubs

Twice-yearly department previews can introduce students to academic areas such as Global Hotel Management, Aviation Maintenance, and Social and Physical Education. Local activities may also include basketball and a music band connected with the Department of Aviation Maintenance.

Admission requirements

• Applicants must have graduated, or expect to graduate, from high school or hold an education recognised as equivalent to or higher than high-school completion.
• Applicants must be able to demonstrate sufficient financial capacity for tuition and living expenses.
• Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate visa for study in South Korea.
• Academic qualifications normally require Apostille verification or Korean consular certification issued within the accepted validity period.
• Applicants submit identity, family-relationship, academic and financial documents; documents not issued in Korean or English require a notarised Korean or English translation.
• Current financial evidence includes a bank balance above KRW 9,000,000, with additional transaction or income evidence potentially required according to nationality and immigration review.

Tuition and additional costs

Tuition per ten-week semester: approximately USD 880 (KRW 1,100,000).

Standard annual tuition: KRW 4,400,000 for four semesters.

Textbooks, mobile service, international-student insurance, Korea’s National Health Insurance, accommodation, visa-related expenses and everyday living costs are separate. These charges vary according to the student’s circumstances and the university’s current arrangements.

Scholarship opportunities

• TOPIK Scholarship: a 50% tuition reduction for the following semester after obtaining official TOPIK Level 3.
• Academic Excellence Scholarship: a 20% tuition reduction for the following semester with at least 90% attendance and a semester result of 90 or above.
• Academic Excellence Scholarship: a 10% tuition reduction for the following semester with at least 90% attendance and a semester result of 85 or above.

On-campus accommodation

FEU provides university dormitory options for international students. Accommodation benchmarks range from approximately USD 896 to USD 1,100, depending on the building and room assignment. Shared facilities can include kitchens, laundry areas, study spaces, lounges, air conditioning, internet access and Wi-Fi.
